Mistissini Fitness Challenge
This multi-day event showcases the fittest of the fit in the Cree Nation. Day one are the individual events where the athletes (male & female) participate in their own category in a series of disciplines including a 1 kilometre swim, a 5-10km cycle, a 1 km portage, a 2 km canoe and finishing with a 5-10 km running race. Day two sees the same series of disciplines but in a team pursuit relay style. Additional categories were added, including a mini triathlon for children and youth and a team relay for adults.
Canoe Challenge Competition
This is a competitive canoe race event that is intended to inspire the local athletes to maintain the Cree canoeing tradition. There are numerous categories for men/women/boys/girls.
Minor Hockey & Broomball Tournament
This is an invitational program that targets the teams in the categories that participate in the least amount of competitive games throughout the season. The focus here is on the broomball categories and all the B level hockey teams.
Winter Carnival
This family oriented event combines a series of traditional Cree activities with mainstream winter sports in a family friendly participation week for all. Come celebrate our winter carnival with us. The carnival features many activities, including snow sculptures, sliding, cross-country snowmobile racing, and more.
Mistissini Powwow - Mistissini Niimuuhiikaan
Since the first traditional style Pow-wow in Mistissini held in 2013 the event quickly became a huge hit with the locals and visitors. This event is held in August.
Mistissini Invitational Basketball Tournament
This is an invitational basketball tournament for men and women, boys and girls. Teams play in one of 6 different categories from youth, adult recreational or adult competitive over the four day event. Prize money and individual awards won at the conclusion of each championship game.
Annual Senior Hockey& Broomball Tournament
The largest single event in the community, this invitational hockey and broomball tournament for adults sees teams compete for cash and prizes, usually in excess of $60,000 annually in 6 categories ranging from Class A, Class B, Class C, Old timers, Women's Hockey and Women's Broomball.
Federated Minor Hockey Tournament
This annual Federated tournament entering its 10th year is under the auspices of Hockey Quebec and attracts teams from the Cree Nation and beyond in the categories of Novice A & B, Atom A & B, Pee Wee A & B, Bantam A & B and Midget A & B.
